This is an evening neighborhood code club where students come together for extended learning beyond the basic coding they learn in school. We’ve chosen MIT’s Scratch as our learning platform of choice. It is a powerful learning platform and frequently used in middle school and into high school for Intro to Computer Science classes, where students can focus on creativity and problem solving without the details of syntax.
In this code club, girls and boys practice the core concepts of computer programming through the creation of games and animations. Based on an evaluation, students are assigned appropriate skill and interest level projects at each class. This enables students to move through our progressive curriculum at a pace that best suits them. And for students who are ready and interested to beyond Scratch, we will introduce them to programming games in JavaScript.
This code club will run through out the school year. This Code Club is for Beginner – Advanced Coders!
