In this after-school code club, students practice fundamental computer science concepts while learning how to code basic Mods and test them in a Minecraft world. In this course, students engage in daily MOD projects, “unplugged” activities, collaborative exercises and classroom discussions. We’ve chosen Minecraft: Education Edition as our platform of choice for this class. Its open-learning, immersive environment allows students the freedom to experiment and challenge themselves. Much like in real life, there are no step-by-step instructions—students must try, fail, and try again to achieve the result they want.
This coding club is ideal for students who are curious, creative and enjoy learning in collaborative environments. It’s not necessary that students know Minecraft, but those who do can help novice players learn why Minecraft is such a powerful play-based learning environment. Beginner-intermediate level coders are welcome to join us for a fun and challenging code club!
